Nigeria’s main opposition Party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has assured Party members in Imo State that the party was ready to win the upcoming gubernatorial election scheduled for November this year.
The PDP’s Chairman of National Campaign Council for the Imo State 2023 gubernatorial election and Governor of Zamfara State, Mr. Dauda Lawal, gave the assurance in Abuja, at the campaign council’s Inaugural Meeting organised by the party.
Mr. Lawal said all hands must be on deck to face the challenges ahead for PDP to win the election for the betterment of the State and Democracy in general.
The Governor called on people in Imo State to remain law abiding in carrying out their campaign activities free from violence and intimidation to achieve fair and credible election in the State.
“PDP’s focus is fairness, transparency and adherence to the principles of democracy and rule of law, PDP’s aim is not only to win the election but rather bring positive change to the people of Imo State,” Mr. Dauda Lawal adviced.
The governor enumerated the campaign council’s areas of focus “ I call on each one of you to lead by example, we must carry out our Campaign that reflect the integrity, unity, values and principles of our great party, the PDP.
“We must be mindful of the language we use, the statement we put forward, the promises we make and the action we take, our campaign should focus on issues that matter more to them such as, Security, Health, infrastructure and Job creation among others,” he said.
In his remarks, the PDP gubernatorial candidate in Imo State, Mr. Samuel Anyanwu, assured the people of his optimism that the PDP would win the gubernatorial election based on the support the party has so far.
“This election is not about money but solutions to the challenges that Imo people are facing which we must to deliver and bring PDP back to the State,” Mr. Anyanwu reiterated.
The 2023 Imo State gubernatorial election will take place on 11 November 2023 Incumbent APC Governor Hope Uzodinma is running for re-election.
