Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has constituted a cabinet-level security committee to develop alternative short- and long-term strategies to curb emerging security threats across the state.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, “The committee will be chaired by the Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi, with Mrs Olufunke Mercy Shittu from the Office of the Head of Service serving as secretary.”
Other members include the Special Adviser on Security Matters, Brigadier General Saliu Tunde Bello (rtd); Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development, Abdullahi Bata; Senior Special Assistant on Security, Alhaji Muyideen Aliu; Special Assistant on Security, Alhaji Moshood Gobir; and one local government chairman from each of the state’s three senatorial districts.

The committee is mandated to engage traditional rulers, community leaders, and key stakeholders in exclusive consultations to develop a Kwara-specific security blueprint tailored to strengthening public safety.
The governor directed the committee to submit its report within four weeks for further review and action.
“The committee’s recommendations are expected to enrich existing understanding of the nationwide security situation from local perspectives,” the statement added.
