The Lagos State Government has concluded arrangements to host critical stakeholders in the real estate sector in its 4th edition of the Real Estate Marketplace Conference and Exhibition. This is geared towards addressing pertinent matters around the built environment.
The event is slated for Wednesday, 13th December and Thursday, 14th December 2023 at the Expo Hall, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. The theme is “Real Estate Regulation: A Panacea for Disaster Mitigation and Recovery in the Built Industry”.
Initiated in 2020, the programme was designed to bring together players in the real estate sector towards actualizing the T.H.E.M.E.S plus agenda of the government, T.H.E.M.E.S being an acronym for Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration’s six-point strategic development agenda: Traffic Management and Transportation; Health and Environment; Education and Technology; Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy; Entertainment and Tourism as well as Security and Governance.
The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Housing, Barr. Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, said that the event was put together through the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (LASRERA) to dissect issues around housing regulations and will present a one-of-a-kind advantage for all investors to explore investment opportunities in the Lagos real estate ecosystem.
“Key industry players and relevant government agencies will use the occasion to leverage and facilitate public-private partnerships, investment opportunities, policy developments and provide solutions to issues peculiar to the industry through the joint venture initiatives scheme of the state government.
“There are enormous potentials here in Lagos State Housing Partnerships initiatives, that if well tapped into by individuals/organizations operating in the real estate sector, will drive macro-economic growths and development amongst other functions within the built industry value chain,” said Barakat Odunuga-Bakare.
She mentioned that the previous editions of the event had addressed some challenges facing the sector through proper and robust engagement by experienced industry players at the panel of discussion.
The event has the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the chief host and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, as the co-host.
The annual conference and exhibitions will also be attended by professional bodies in the built sector.
“It is expected to feature Real Estate Value Chain Enterprises ranging from tourism, horticulture, financial institutions, interior decorators, construction companies, real estate agencies, interlocking companies, cement companies, sanitary wares, POP construction companies, tiles industries, environmentalists, resident associations, proptech companies and relevant government agencies of the state.
“And this is an opportunity for corporate organizations, individuals, and state government agencies to showcase their brands, products, services, and network at exhibition stands at this year’s event,” she noted.
According to the LASRERA boss, the panel session segment of the event will be chaired by seasoned representatives drawn from the private and public sectors, who will propose suitable solutions to the challenges in the built sector to gain investors’ confidence for sustainable investments.
