Lawmakers investigate murder of Corps member by a Chinese

The Nigerian House of Representatives has directed an investigation into the gruesome murder of Corps member, in Kano, Kano state, northern Nigeria.

The young lady Miss Ummulkulthum Buhani was killed while in her House at Janbulo, Dorayi Babba in Gwale Local Government area of Kano State.

The deceased was allegedly killed by one Mr. Geng Quanrong, a Chinese national at about 9:30 pm with a pre—meditated intention to commit the provocative act.

The directive followed a motion titled “Motion On Urgent Public Importance On Need To Investigate The Gruesome Murder Of Ummulkulthum Buhari By A Chinese National, Mr Geng Quanrong In Kano, sponsored by Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum.

“Worried that it took Mr. Geng more than an hour to force himself into the room of the deceased shows that the attack and subsequent killing of the deceased person was a well thought out plan by Mr.Geng; Concerned that Five days after the murder of Ummulkulthum Buhari, the Nigerian Police are yet to come out with a preliminary report on their investigation,” The motion says.

It says in cognizant of the fact that the constitutional duty of Government as contained in Section 14, sub 2(b) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (As Amended) that “The security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of Government” should be taken more serious as the family members of the deceased and citizens of Kano and Nigerians at large are calling for justice.

The House urge the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to direct a thorough Investigation into the gruesome murder.

It also urged the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria and Chinese community in Kano State to condole with the Government and people of Kano State and Nigeria.

It mandated the Interior Committee to visit and commiserate with the immediate family of the deceased and the people and Government of Kano State over the death of their daughter, whose death would not only hurt her family but was also a huge blow to the good people of Kano State and Nigeria at large.

It also called for the suspension of the activities of the company the Chinese works for pending the determination of the legal status of the accused Chinese man.
