Lukaku: ‘Manchester City wanted me in 2020, I declined’
Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku has confessed that English champions Manchester City attempted to sign him in 2020.
He however declined their approach.
Lukaku made this revelation in an interview with Sky Italia.
He confirmed that the offer from City was higher than that from current club side Chelsea.
But the Belgian International had his sights on a second return to London.

“After the first year, I turned down an offer from Manchester City that was higher than Chelsea’s current one, because I didn’t want to,” he said.
“It was not the time, it was the first year, I wanted to do something good for Inter because they saved my career. I was in a deep hole at Manchester United, things weren’t going well. I was a big investment for Inter and we did great things together.”
This revelation comes after the 28-year was quoted Thursday as saying he was “not happy” with the situation at Chelsea.
He also questioned Thomas Tuchel’s system, with the prospect of returning to Inter not ruled out.
In his reaction, Tuchel expressed unhappiness with Lukaku’s comments, but promised to speak with him afterwards.
