Meta to Extends Post-Election Ban on New Political Ads
Meta Platforms announced on Monday that it will extend its ban on new political ads following the U.S. election, with the restriction remaining in place until later this week.
In light of the widespread misinformation during the previous presidential election, tech companies are maintaining strict ad policies this year.
Under the ban, Meta will prevent new political ads from being published. However, previously displayed ads with at least one impression before the restriction will still be shown, though editing options will be limited.

Meta’s approach follows its past stance, noting that there may not be enough time to fact-check new claims in political ads as the election draws to a close.
Last year, Meta also prohibited political campaigns and certain regulated industries from using its new generative AI advertising tools.
