Ugandan Head of Delegation to the African Military Games, Brigadier General Richard Karemirie says the mission of the military remains the same across the continent, and that is to ensure peace and security of the people, for the prosperity of the continent.

He applauded the league of African leaders working hard at ensuring that there is unity in the continent, stressing that the African Military Games further strengthens that pan African spirit.

General Karemirie speaking on the prowess of the African Militaries and their roles in world wars, maintains that African Military remains strong and formidable, with thesame Misson, “ensuring the provision of peace and security to the people for social-economic transformation, for the prosperity of the continent”.

Speaking on the security situation in Uganda, he emphasised that Uganda is a very peaceful and cohesive nation, and it is at a stage where it has become an exporter of peace, sending peace keepers to Somalia where Nigerian peace keepers also have presence in numbers.

According to him, this demonstrates oneness of spirit and the common mission of ensuring that Africa remains peaceful and stable.

Brigadier General Karemirie said Nigeria is so much different from other African countries and he regards it as home, while applauding the level of warmest and reception.

He admits that it is his first time in Nigeria, attesting that Nigerian people are very warm and they blend well with every other African brothers.

According to Brigadier General Karemirie “The games provide us with the opportunity to solidify the historical brotherhood we have had as Africans despite attempts to divide us over time”

On the social media banter between African countries, he said the bickering on social media is very artificial because there is no difference between African people and there is more in common than what is seen amongst the nations of the continent.

“it is incumbent upon us to counter any wrong impressions that is been painted out there, and give the actual facts of what really represents us as African people and these Games gives just that platform”
