Nasarawa Flags-off 6k bags of subsidized Fertilizer

The Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has flagged off six thousand bags of fertilizer for 2022 dry season farming to farmers in the state.

Governor Sule stated this at the Nasarawa Agriculture Development Program(NADP) during the flagged off of

2022 dry season farming in Lafia the state capital.

He said that “the fertilizer would be sold at the rate of seven thousand nairas (7000) to ease farmers’ hardship, even though the fertilizer was procured at the cost of nine thousand, three hundred nairas (9300)”.

Governor Sule further urged all the stakeholders involved to ensure that only farmers get the fertilizer and make sure they make use of it without selling out for money.

Speaking, the Nasarawa State Permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources, Mr. Nuhu Bunu, calls on farmers to make use of the golden opportunity given to them by the governor.

“The status of the state need to be intact in terms of Agriculture” Bunu noted

In a remark, the chairman, All farmers Association in Nasarawa State, Hon Samuel Meshi while appreciating the governor for his continued support to farmers in the state, said Nasarawa was already leading in sesame and Cassava production in the country.

“We want to put on record that Nasarawa State is already leading nationally on sesame production we are also leading in cassava production. We are second after Benue in yam production. This shows that farmers in the state are making the best use of the opportunities given by the state government.

He therefore, called on farmers in the state to be cautious about the sale of their farm produce to avoid going back to the market to buy what they have sold.

Also speaking, the Program Manager, Nasarawa Agriculture Development Programme(NADP) Mr. Emmanuel Allanana, assured the governor that commodities would not be diverted but would be for the farmers.

He further assured the dry season farmers that government would use all means to make sure that fertilizers and other farm inputs are provided at a reasonable price to them.
