National Directorate of Employment trains youths, artisans in Ebonyi state

The National Directorate of Employment  in Ebonyi State, Southeast Nigeria, has flagged off Basic Business Training For over 65 School Leavers and Artisans in the State.

 

The Director-General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu  disclosed this while presenting his address during the training  at NDE State office in Abakaliki the State Capital.

 

The DG Who was represented in the program by NDE State Coordinator, Mr Don Anaba said Basic Business Training was designed by the Directorate to train  Artisans and school Leavers on the rudimentary aspects of business management skills.

 

“You may wish to know that the informal sector  is a significant contributor to the economy of every nation. Their significant is further buttressed by their roles in  stimulating the market economy, promoting flexible labour market, stimulating productive activities, and absorbing retrenched labour from the formal sector,” Anaba said.

 

He advised all the participants to give full attention to what is being taught and make sure they derive maximum benefit from the training.

 

Consequently, the Head of Department, Small Scale Enterprises at the NDE, Mrs Chikodi Ike, represented by the HOD of  the same Department of NDE in Ebonyi State,  Dr Ekea Awa Ekea  in his speech said the directorate has always carried out it’s activities with vigour, dedication and commitment to it’s mandate which is primarily to reduce unemployment and poverty within the limit of it’s resources.

 

“You would be taught the different forms of business and legal responsibilities. Other topics to be treated include: record keeping; marketing, management of workers; purchase and stock control; Cash management; business ethics; costing of product  and services among others” he said.

 

For his part, the Head of Department, Agric Economics and Extension, Faculty of Agriculture, Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, Professor Gibson Umeh, while declaring the training open, urged all the participants to count themselves lucky  to be selected for the programmes.

 

Professor Umeh urged all the participants to ensure to maximise every knowledge gained so as to help them to contribute their quota to grow Nigeria’s economy through their businesses and skills.

 

One of the Beneficiaries Mr Henry Okoh thanked NDE on behalf of other trainees,  for preparing them to become better managers of their businesses.

 

Okoh also thanked the Nigerian Government for establishing the Directorate of Employment  to empower Unemployed youths in the country.
