Niger State to Collaborate with Federal Government to Attract Investors

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, is seeking collaboration with the Federal Government to attract more investors to the state, particularly in agriculture.

 

The governor made this known after a closed-door meeting with the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, in Abuja.

 

Speaking to Newsmen after the meeting, Governor Umaru Bago explained that his visit aimed to tap into the Minister’s knowledge and acquire firsthand information about development partners available to the Ministry.

 

Governor Umaru Bago emphasised the state’s determination to maximise its agricultural potential, highlighting the necessity of partnering with the Federal Ministry of Budget and Planning to secure appropriate investments, especially in agriculture.

 

He mentioned that during the meeting, he introduced the State’s Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mustapha Ndajiwo, to the Minister for effective collaboration.

 

Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, the Minister of Budget and National Planning, assured that the Ministry is willing to collaborate with Niger State, emphasising that it is part of the Ministry’s mandate to coordinate the development plans of the federal government and the states.

 

He further explained that “this collaboration would facilitate interaction with development partners and potential investors, enabling the Ministry to market the sub-national entity as effectively as the federal government.”

While commending Governor Umaru Bago’s zeal to transform Niger State, Sen. Bagudu pledged to work with the State Ministry for Budget and Planning Commission to expedite the development of projects initiated by the Governor for the repositioning of Niger State.
