The Nigerian government has reiterated its commitment to achieve the Nigerian Industrial Revolution Plan (NIRP) to take the nation’s economy to enviable heights.
President Muhammadu Buhari made the commitment as he declared open the 34th Lagos International trade fair in Lagos, South-West Nigeria.
The President, represented by the Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr Niyi Adebayo, said the COVID-19 pandemic has posed more challenges, which has made it imperative to fast track the development of the industrial sector.
He said the country was also working to maximize the benefits of its trade relations with other countries to ensure that they uplift Nigeria’s economic plans.
For his part, the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, said the State was working with the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry to align policies that would stand the test of time and strengthen businesses, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic persists.
Dr. Hamzat said there was also the need for small and big businesses to connect to stay afloat to overcome the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic.
The 10-day Lagos International Trade fair with the theme “Connecting business: creating value” will close on the 13th of December.
