Nigerian Athletes Prepare For World Championships, Commonwealth Games Trials

All is now set for what would be a “Championship of Stars” in Nigeria as top athletes are set to storm Benin City in Edo State to jostle for qualification to represent the nation at the World Athletics Championship, and the Commonwealth Games.
The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), announced that the championship will take place between June 21 – June 23 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo State.
Top athletes from Europe, the United States of America and within Nigeria are expected to compete in the 3-day event which would provide the country with the opportunity to pick her representatives to the showpiece events.
The World Athletics Championship will take place between July 15 – July 24 at Oregon in USA, while the Commonwealth Games will hold between July 28 – August 8, in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
The Championship of Stars meet is set to be one of the most competitive trials in recent years with the qualify of Nigerian athletes making waves home and abroad.
