Nigeria’s Petroleum Minister of State Resigns

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva has resigned from office.

According to a tweet by the Special Assistant on Digital Communications to the President, Bashir Ahmad, he said: H.E. Timipre Sylva, has resigned his appointment to contest in the next Bayelsa governorship election.

Sylva will participate in the forthcoming primary election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress party APC which is likely to hold any time in April.

He was the former governor of Bayelsa state in Southern Nigeria for one term before his ministerial appointment and has constitutional rights to contest for another tenure.
