The Board of Trustees, BOT of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP has constituted a committee to reconcile aggrieved members of the party, especially with Rivers state Governor Nyesom Wike who has been visibly at odds with the party since its presidential primaries in Abuja.
Arising from a crucial meeting at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday, the board constituted a committee to reach out to aggrieved members and resolve contentious issues.
After a closed-door board of trustees meeting, Senator Abdul Ningi who addressed journalists on behalf of the BOT Chairman Walid Jibrin, said the BOT after appraising the performance of the party in the last couple of months decided to set up the committee to settle internal wrangling.
‘We have set up this committee of the BOT to be able to interface between warring factions, particularly the acrimony that is taking place between the presidential candidate and governor Wike and any other conflict that is taking place in the nation within our party formation. The committee is the committee for all, which means every BOT member is a member of the committee. I cannot tell you the grievances and the time frame’.
On the national chairman, Dr. Iyorcha Ayo stepping down from his position, Ningi said, ‘we have not even discussed any issue of anybody stepping down. What we discussed is what I told you’.
Abdul Ningi explained that the Board of Trustees congratulated members of the PDP for winning the Osun state governorship election in South West Nigeria and commended the national working committee under the leadership of Dr. Iyorcha Ayo for the successful conduct of the PDP national convention and primary.

Meanwhile, young members of the party, on Wednesday, stormed the National Secretariat of the PDP to demand the resignation of its National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu.
The party supporters, acting under the aegis of Concerned Deltans for Good Governance, were at the Wadata Plaza, to register their displeasure over what they described as the refusal of the party chairman to obey an order of the Federal High Court which sacked Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as the PDP standard bearer in next year’s governorship election in Delta state.
