The Russian Federation says its sixty-five years of diplomatic ties with Nigeria are unshakeable, a constant reminder of unbreakable fellowship, perseverance and unwavering commitment.

Sergei Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, stated this in a congratulatory message to Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar.

Lavrov noted that Russia’s unshakeable ties with Nigeria will continue to drive a pathway towards constructive and development-oriented global engagement for both nations.

He said Moscow notes with satisfaction the high level of cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He said sixty-five years of diplomatic ties have been based on the principles of mutual respect, trust and the closeness of positions across a broad range of regional and international issues.

We remain committed to the steady development and maintenance of an active and substantive political dialogue,” he stated.

Both countries have practically collaborated in the trade, economic and humanitarian spheres, in the interests of the peoples of our countries and in the support of sustainable peace and development on the African continent.”

I wish you good health and every success, and to the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, well-being and prosperity.

Lavrov assured that Russia remains committed to supporting Nigeria’s “Africa First” policy while consolidating increased cooperation in the areas of business, security, agriculture and socio-cultural engagements.
