Saudi Arabia will bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

A statement from the Saudi Arabian football federation said the oil-rich kingdom “intends to deliver a world-class tournament and will draw inspiration from Saudi Arabia’s ongoing social and economic transformation and the country’s deep-rooted passion for football.”

Bids for the 2034 World Cup would be limited to Asia and Oceania.

This is because the 2026 edition will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

As a result, Australia is likely going to be the main rival to the Saudi bid.

Earlier on Wednesday, FIFA announced Morocco, Portugal and Spain as the joint hosts for the 2030 world cup.

However in a novel move, matches will also be played by Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.
