Sokoto Police Present Cheques to Families of Fallen Officers

As part of activities marking the 2026 National Police Week, the Sokoto State Police Command, Northwest Nigeria, has presented cheques to the families of deceased police officers.

The event marked the culmination of week-long activities in the state, ahead of the grand finale scheduled to be held at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Speaking during the presentation, the Commissioner of Police, Sokoto State Command, CP Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, described the occasion as both solemn and significant, noting that it reflects the commitment of the Force leadership to the welfare of its personnel and their families.

“A total sum of ₦33,989,615.15 was presented to eight beneficiaries, as part of efforts to support families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty,” CP Shaffa said.

He assured the beneficiaries that the Nigeria Police Force stands with them and will continue to provide more support.

He noted that the sacrifices of fallen officers remain invaluable and will never be forgotten.

The Commissioner encouraged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the support provided, while assuring them that the Nigeria Police Force will continue to stand by them.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Gadi Talatu expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police and the Sokoto State Police Command for their support.

She noted that the gesture would go a long way in assisting the families and prayed for continued strength and success for the Nigeria Police Force.
