The Kano State Police Command, North-West Nigeria, has emphasised trust-building and collaboration between law enforcement and residents as the command unveiled lineup of community-focused activities to mark the 2026 National Police Day,
The Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, announced this while briefing journalists in Kano.
Themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust,” Bakori said the initiative aligns with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and is designed to strengthen ties with the public while promoting peace and security across the state.
According to the CP, the week-long activities will kick off on Monday, 30 March, with a sanitation exercise in Fagge Local Government Area, alongside community engagement sessions and a medical outreach in Dakata.
“The programme continues on Tuesday, 31 March, with a walkathon stretching across key parts of Kano metropolis, followed by a live radio engagement at Dala FM and a visit to the Federal High Court.”
“Midweek events include an interactive session with students and staff of North-West University Kano, as well as a football match at Sani Abacha Stadium, aimed at fostering unity and youth participation.”
“On Thursday, 2 April, the Command will host a roundtable discussion with Civil Society Organisations and Community Liaison Officers, in addition to outreach visits to motor parks and markets across the state.”

The Commissioner of Police noted that groups such as the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) and the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) will actively participate, reinforcing the collaborative spirit of the celebration.
Similar activities are also expected to take place across divisional and area commands statewide.
CP Bakori announced that the grand finale of the celebration is scheduled for 7 April at Eagle Square in Abuja, where national dignitaries, led by the Inspector-General, will commemorate the occasion.
The Commissioner of Police expressed appreciation to residents for their continued support, urging community leaders and the general public to take part in the activities.
He emphasised that sustained partnership between the police and citizens remains key to addressing security challenges and improving the quality of life in Kano State.
