Tobi Amusan Wins Prestigious FIN Award In Dubai

Nigerian track and field athlete Tobi Amusan won the prestigious FIN Award in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The award honours outstanding female leaders, male advocates, and institutions who have made significant contributions to the cause of women’s empowerment in the public and private sectors.

In her remarks after receiving the honour, the 2018 African and Commonwealth champion in the 100 metres hurdle competition, said:

“I am indeed elated that I have been found worthy to be awarded the best woman in sports,” Amusan said. “This will always cross my mind, and constantly remind me of how it all started and every effort our team put in to get to where we are now.”

“It gives me so much joy that our efforts are not being overlooked, and that each person in this room is a winner. I want to say thank you all. Let this award be a seal of what we can all achieve. Shout out to all women out there.”

Amusan put behind her Tokyo Olympics disappointment by winning the Continental Tour Gold at the Stadion Slaski in Chorzow, Poland in September. She won the100m hurdles event with a time of 12.64s ahead of Olympic bronze medalist, Megan Tapper, who clocked 12.75.
