Troops Annihilate Terrorists, Recover Arms In Zamfara State

Nigerian Army troops in the North West have neutralised 12 of the terrorists, compelling the others to flee in disarray in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Troops deployed for Counter-terrorism Counter-insurgency operations made significant steps on Monday 15 April 2024 where they also destroyed the camp of the terrorists.

A statement by the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu said the troops while acting on credible intelligence on the activities of the terrorists, conducted a targeted clearance operation to dismantle the suspected terrorists’ operational base in the town of Maru.

Following a successful pursuit and neutralisation of the terrorists, the troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, 12 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, and two locally fabricated gun.

Additionally, troops captured 10 operational motorbikes used for mobility by the terrorists and 18 rustled cows, and destroyed the terrorists’ base after dislodging them.
