Ukrainians put out fire at nuclear power plant after Russian attack
Ukraine’s state emergency service said on Friday, that fire has been put out near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
U.S. Energy Secretary, Jennifer Granholm said, there was no indication of elevated radiation levels at the Zaporizhzhia plant, which provides more than a fifth of total electricity generated in Ukraine.
Ukrainian authorities says, “The safety of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is now secured, after a fire broke out at a training building when the complex came under fire from Russian forces.”
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urges Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to sit down for talks, while calling for more international support.
While Kherson is under Russian control, other cities, including the capital, Kyiv, Kharkiv and Mariupol continue to be attacked.
More than one million people have fled Ukraine amid Russia’s attack.
