Kano state Governor Dr. Umar Ganduje has commissioned the office of the first lady in the state as part of his commitment in improving the life of women, strengthen their political inclusion and participation in governance.
The commissioned Office of the Wife of the Governor is located at Ten Chalets section of the Government House, Kano.
He said the office is didicated for women development in Kano and as compliment to the effort of his wife Prof. Hafsat Abdullahi Ganduje who works tirelessly for their empowerment.
“This office is for Kano women. It is also for Her Excellency, Prof. Hafsat Abdullahi Ganduje, who goes up and down to improve the lots of women in the state. She shuttles between the 44 local governments empowering women.”
“Her Excellency takes empowerment to the doorsteps of women across the state, particularly, to rural women,” said Ganduje
He said Her Excellency was intrumental in the appointment of Councillors in the 44 local governments, the appointment of Advisers to local governments chairmen and the inclusion of women in governance.
“She is always thinking of how to carry women along. We came up with this office to strengthen her mission in that direction. We will continue to support her to improve the life of other women,” assured Ganduje.
Commissioner of Women Affairs, Dr Zahara’u Umar Muhammad, Head of Service, Binta Lawan Ahmad and Woman Leader, North West zone, of All Progressives Congress (APC) Yahanasu Buba, commended the governor for providing the office.
