Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has felicitated Ms Tariye Gbadegesin on her new role as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Climate Investment Funds.

Tariye Gbadegesin, a Nigerian-U.S national, has become the first African to be appointed as the CEO of the Climate Investment Funds (CIF). She will assume her new position in March 2024.

CIF was established in 2008 to mobilize concessional finance for low-carbon, climate-resilient development at scale and has sourced more than $64 billion in additional financing to date.

The president said via his X handle (formerly known as Twitter) that Tariye’s appointment is not just a personal achievement but signifies a proud moment for Nigeria.
The Nigerian leader affirmed the nation’s support for Gbadegesin, extolling her wealth of experience in climate finance and sustainable infrastructure.
