Massacre: Nigerian Government consoles Plateau State Communities

The Nigerian government has condoled with Plateau State Communities over the brutal attacks that claimed the lives of dozens of people in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of the State

According to local sources, gunmen stormed several villages in the two local government areas, shooting indiscriminately and setting houses on fire.

In a statement issued by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the Federal Government expressed its outrage and strongly condemned the killings.

The Government reiterated the commitment of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration to securing every inch of the Nigerian territory and ensuring that all forms of criminality by terrorists, bandits and militants are tackled boldly and decisively.

“President Tinubu has directed the security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators of these heinous killings are fished out and brought to justice. He has also ordered the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and other relevant agencies to work with the Plateau State Government to deliver immediate humanitarian relief to the affected communities.”

The Nigerian government acknowledged the deep pains being felt by all the victims of these attacks, and pledged to scale up collaboration with and support of the State Governments in the collective task of ensuring lasting peace and security in Nigeria.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation prayed for God’s comfort and healing for all the affected communities, families and for the souls of the dead to rest in peace.

It would be recalled that Vice President Kashim Shettima had on Wednesday visited the affected communities in Plateau State to condole with the government and people of the state over the Christmas eve attacks

According to him, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration will not rest on its oars until victims of the gruesome attacks on communities in Barkin Ladi and Bokkos local government areas of Plateau State get justice and the residents are safe.
