The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday in Abuja officially inaugurated the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Digital Museum of Dynamic History and Television Studio at the scheme’s headquarters.

While launching the projects, Mrs. Tinubu stated that the new facilities would serve as an important tool for civic education and the promotion of national values.

“The Digital Museum is not merely a repository of artifacts; it is a dynamic chronicle of our shared history, values, and aspirations as a nation,” she explained.

“It represents the various interventions by the NYSC members, who through their selfless service have left indelible marks across diverse sectors.”

Mrs Tinubu highlighted that history is central to national development, stressing that studying the past enables citizens to better understand the present and create new pathways for the future.

She further noted that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on leveraging innovation and technology to drive inclusivity and the digital economy.

The First Lady commended the NYSC for its impactful role in the country over more than 50 years, emphasising its role as a platform for national development, integration, and bridging gaps between youth, their potential, and the needs of their communities. She also praised the Nigerian youth for their resilience, innovation, and boundless energy.

In his remarks, the Minister of Youth Development, Mr. Ayodele Olawande, described the facility as a virtual source that would document the history, innovations, and contributions of the nation’s youth over the years. He encouraged young people to draw inspiration from the initiative and to show courage in contributing positively to society.

Earlier, the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier-General Yu’shau Ahmed, welcomed guests and explained that the museum, as one of the scheme’s key legacies, would be a vital centre for research, documentation, and cultural preservation.

He stated, “The digital enhancement of the museum reflects our commitment to embracing technology in our approach to heritage and education. With this development, the updated gallery is set to become a hub for learning and inspiration, which will provide researchers, students, and visitors with access to valuable materials that document the NYSC’s impact on society.”
