The Kwara State government is to collaborate with Ibadan Electric Distribution Company (IBEDC), in a bid to proffer solution to persistent power outage in Ilesha Baruba-Chikanda axis of Baruten local government area.

The state Commissioner for Energy, Lafia Aliyu Kora Sabi on Wednesday, met with the IBEDC regional Head, Engeer Christopher Lawal in his Ilorin office, to synergize and work out modalities that would improve power supply in the affected areas.

According to him, despite the huge funds the state government has expended on provision of power to the area, many Communities in the axis are still in total blackout.

He lamented that this is not unconnected with continual vandalisation of power cables and other electrical materials in the communities, as well as the recent rainstorm disaster at Boriya and Shiya axis.

In the same vein, the Commissioner hinted that people of Kwara polytechnic-Apata Yakuba-Sango areas will see improvement in power supply as soon as the injection sub-station at Kwara poly and Kulende estate are commissioned and connected to the national grid.

In his  reaction, the IBEDC regional Head, Engineer Christopher commended the government efforts, and assured that the power distribution company shall hold a stakeholders meeting with the local council, traditional rulers, business owners and other members of the affected communities, after which enumeration process shall be carried out, so as to ascertain the potential number of customers in the Communities.
