AANI Applauds Major General Oluyede’s Appointment as Acting COAS

The Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI), led by its President, Ambassador EO Okafor, has applauded the appointment of one of its distinguished members, Major General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, as the Acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

The appointment was made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

In a statement on behalf of AANI’s Executive Committee, National Executive Council, and the entire membership, Okafor praised Major General Oluyede’s exemplary service and experience within the Nigerian Army, stating that his appointment reflects his professionalism, dedication, and deep understanding of military affairs.

Okafor remarked that Major General Oluyede’s appointment is a testament to his commitment and the wealth of experience he brings as a seasoned senior military officer.

Major General Oluyede has held various command, staff, and instructional roles, most recently serving as the Commander of the Infantry Corps.

His career has spanned crucial military operations domestically and internationally, equipping him with unique insights into addressing the nation’s security challenges.

“We are therefore confident that he will bring this wealth of experience to bear in this new appointment,” Okafor continued.

He noted that the appointment reinforces President Tinubu’s recognition of AANI members’ leadership capabilities within Nigeria’s national security framework.

AANI called on officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army to unite in support of their new leader, expressing faith in Major General Oluyede’s ability to face security challenges with determination.

“With his knowledge, dedication, and the collective support of the officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army, sister services, the police, other security agencies and well-meaning Nigerians we are confident he will effectively confront the pressing security challenges in this country head-on and achieve the desired results,” Okafor added.

AANI also encouraged Major General Oluyede to uphold values of loyalty, dedication, and excellence. Extending their best wishes, AANI pledged unwavering support for the Army Chief’s tenure and expressed hope for impactful achievements.

The association also sent heartfelt wishes for a swift recovery to Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the substantive Chief of Army Staff.
