Cholera: Bauchi state vaccinates 589,432 in four days
The Bauchi State Government has vaccinated 589,432 residents against cholera.
The Chairman of the Bauchi State Primary Health care Development Agency, Dr. Rilwan Mohammed, disclosed this in Bauchi during the inauguration of the cholera vaccination campaign in the state.
The state received 1.5 million doses of the cholera vaccine, the vaccination was ongoing in three local government areas of Bauchi, Toro, and Dass which had the highest records of cases.
He said that about 750,000 people were being targeted for the vaccination adding that it would be done in two in two rounds.
“The cholera outbreak has so far spread to 19 local government areas in Bauchi State, only Bogoro LGA has no cholera outbreak.
“The LGAs that have the highest number of cases are Bauchi Ningi, Toro, Dass, and Tafawa Balewa.
“We allocated 570,000 doses to Bauchi local government area and the total vaccination so far done as of day four is 475,634 in the LGA and we have a balance of 94,000 doses.
“In Toro 161,350 allocated and as of day four, 101,427 were vaccinated with 59,923 remaining.
“In Dass, we gave 24,063, and 12,371 were vaccinated with 11,692 remaining,” Mohammed said.
The Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed, said in his speech that, the move had further demonstrated the government’s commitment to the provision of high-quality and effective healthcare services in the state.
