The Federal Orthopaedic Hospital in Billiri, Gombe State, is ready for official opening and operations, marking a landmark development for healthcare in Nigeria’s North-east.
The facility, the first of its kind in the entire sub-region, was facilitated by the member representing Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency, Dr Ali Isa JC as part of his Constituency projects.
Isa-JC, introduced the project as a bill in the National Assembly, and it was subsequently approved and assented to by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu earlier this year.

Briefing close political associates and supporters during a closed-door meeting in Gombe, Dr Isa-JC, who is the Minority Whip of the House of Representatives in the 10th Assembly, confirmed that the facility would be included in the 2026 Supplementary Budget.
He said this had already been added to the budget line for government ministries, departments and agencies.
According to him, “an interim three‑man management committee has been proposed for the Nigerian Government’s approval, while 20 people from the constituency had been appointed on an ad‑hoc basis to ensure the hospital’s immediate take‑off.”
Isa-JC explained that the commissioning would be carried out by senior government officials, in conjunction with state authorities and in the company of the Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, who has already given his approval for operations to commence.
He said “the Governor has also approved an upgrade of the General Hospital in Billiri to complement the new orthopaedic facility.”
In response to the lawmaker’s address, speakers commended his unwavering efforts in delivering the dividends of democracy to an area that had previously lacked such developments.
They gave him the assurances of their continued support in his political future and all his endeavours.
The meeting, which addressed several far-reaching political issues affecting Balanga/Billiri, resolved unanimously to move en masse to whichever party Isa-JC ultimately joins to further his career.
Isa-JC gave assurances to the gathering that an announcement regarding the political platform on which he would contest the 2027 elections would be made known in due course.
