Commission launches Census device ahead of 2023

The National Population Commission has assured Nigerians of a credible and reliable census that can be useful as a tool for national development planning in Nigeria.

This was stated by the National Population Commission Chairman, Nasir Isa Kwara, during the official launch of the 2023 population and housing Census dashboard and mobile devices management system in Abuja Nigeria’s capital.

The Chairman of the Commission, who was represented by the Bayelsa State Niger Delta region Federal Commissioner of the Commission Mrs Gloria Igonfuo, said the launch of the census dashboard and mobile device management system for the 2023 population and housing Census is well prepared by the commission.

“As part of our collective effort in the commission to conduct a fully digitalise census in Nigeria, we want to assure Nigerians of an achievement that will promote the country in many aspects.”

” We launched this dashboard and mobile device management system as a monitoring instrument to enhance the quality of data to be collected during this exercise across the country.”

“The device is capable of monitoring the inflow of data and quality check of results from the 2023 census which will provide reliable and credible demographic data for National planning”

Mrs. Igonfuo also assured Nigerians that the launch of the device would display real-time performance of census data for the National Population Commission, National Bureau of Statistics and external users to proactively identify results of potential poor performance problems before it occurs in households and population enumeration process.

In his keynote address, the Statistician General of the National Bureau of Statistics, Prince Adeyemi Adeniran, pledged his support to the commission in achieving successful conduct of the population and housing Census in May 2023.
” My organisation is ready to work with the National Population Commission to make the 2023 Census successful, adding that Nigerians should expect a credible result that will enhance the economic growth of our great Country and give the Government the focus in national planning.”

The commission acknowledged the effort of the National Identify Management Commission and International development partners for their tremendous support given to the commission ahead of the population and housing Census in 2023.
