Kwankwaso Pledges Lifelong Commitment to Education

Senator Rabi’u Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate in Nigeria’s general election, has pledged to prioritise education throughout his lifelong commitment to serving the nation.

Kwankwaso made this known in Kano while commissioning Skyline University Auditorium named after him and Rikadawa Islamic Primary School in Madobi in his honour to mark his birthday.

The former Kano Governor also unveiled computer training for 1000 teachers as well as innovation, entrepreneurship, and hospitality trainings for youths in the institution.

According to Kwankwaso, education is the only legacy he desired to leave on Nigerian children, as it is the foundation to prosperity.

“If there’s anything I would like to live as a legacy in life, it’s not the roads, the bridges, and so forth, but education for Nigerians.

“We must continue to invest in education for our children’s children in Kano and Nigeria as a whole,” he said.

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, while rejoicing with the leader of the Kwankwasiya movement on his 68th birthday, expressed his commitment to sustain and implement good policies of the movement for the good of Kano people.

He said the declaration of a state of emergency on education is achieving the desired results in the state and will continue to receive the needed attention.

Governor Yusuf said his administration will continue to collaborate with with private institutions to advance teacher training and youth skills acquisition.

The Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim, explained that the collaboration with Skyline University in the training of teachers and youths comes at a time when knowledge, technology, and creativity are the driving forces behind any society’s progress.

He said the initiatives will empower Primary and Secondary school teachers with the digital competencies they need to effectively instruct the next generation.

“The launch of certificates in hospitality provides a platform for growth in one of the most vibrant and critical sectors of our economy, offering hope and opportunity to our youth, while the innovation and creativity programme seeks to nurture the potential of our young entrepreneurs, fostering a culture of innovation that will propel Kano State to new heights,” he stated.

The Vice Chancellor of Skyline University, Professor Ajith Kumar, said the Institution is determined to upskill students’ entrepreneurial abilities though learning and research.

He described Senator Rabi’u Kwankwaso as a champion of educational development and a bridge builder who brought remarkable transformation in education of Kano state.
