Kwara Governor, NFA commend Kwara United on CAFCC performance

Kwara state Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has praised the players and officials of Kwara United for beating AS Douanes of Niger Republic, to pick the qualification ticket for the next round of the 2022/2023 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup competition.

Kwara United forced AS Douanes to a goalless draw on Sunday in Niamey after a 3-0 win in Lagos, and speaking to the players Online from the USA immediately after the game, the Governor commended them for rising above the challenges, against all odds.

The Governor reassured them of his government’s support, even as he charged them to remain disciplined.

The Nigeria Football Federation’s Head of Delegation, Mallam Ibrahim Musa Gusau, while addressing the players, commended Kwara Governor for supporting the team, as he termed it the ‘spirit of good support’’

You all need to work harder to justify the commitment of the Governor on the team.

“Despite the challenges and intimidation meted out to you by AS Douanes, you came out un-scared. But you must remember that you are now playing the Cup holders, Berkane of Morocco. You need to work harder and remain focused.

The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Mogaji described Kwara United’s qualification for the next stage as wonderful, saying that the team achieved a clean sheet over the two legs to make it more special.

It’s a sign of commitment, not conceding a goal on both legs. The Governor is fully behind you, and he has assured of a good and early preparation against the Moroccan team.

“I want to specially thank the players, the coaching crew, managers of the team, and will want to thank our goalkeeper, Adewale Adeyinka, whom I have picked as the Man of the Match.

Also praising the players here in Niamey, the Chairman of Kwara FA, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa, popularly known as Thuraya commended the courage of the players, despite the rascality perpetrated by the home team before the match.

It’s a good thing that you did not allow that to weigh you down, but I must warn that you will witness more intimidating features as you move ahead in the competition. So, get prepared”, he added.

Kwara United will play Berkane on October 18th, in the first leg of the next round in Morocco.
