Market capitalisation bounces back with N980bn gain

Equity transactions on the Nigerian Exchange rebounded on Wednesday to put the market back in a bullish trend.

 

The market capitalisation appreciated by N980 billion to close at N56,632 trillion as against 55,652 the previous day while the all-share index inched up by 1.76% to end the day’s trading at 103,498.28 basis points compared with 101,707.70 basis points recorded on Tuesday.

 

At the end of the day’s trading, a total of 426.86 million shares with market value of N12.1 trillion were traded in 8,654 deals just as the market sentiment also closed positive with 28 gainers and 25 losers.

 

The three top gainers for the day were Airtel Africa with 10% price gain and a closing price of N2,200 followed by Unity Bank also with 10% price gain and a closing price of N2.42k while Juli gained 9.91% to close at N1.22k per share.

 

On the other hand, MeCure Industries was top on the losers list with 10% price loss to close at N9.72. Closely behind it was NCR Ngeria with a 10% loss and a closing price of N4.32 then Thomas Wyatt Nigeria also lost 10% to close at N2.25k.

 

First Bank Holdings recorded the highest volume of traded shares for the day at 54.6 million shares , followed by United Bank for Africa with 47.7 million shares.
