The Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) has commissioned a crèche and nursery school, as well as shuttle tricycles and a waiting shelter at Ribadu Cantonment in Kaduna state.
Representing the NAOWA President, Mrs Mernan Femi Oluyede, the Deputy of the Association, Mrs Bilkisu Ibrahim, described the projects as a bold step towards improving the welfare and education of children in military communities.
The initiative, which is part of the 2025 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL), was led by the Chairperson of NAOWA 1 Division Chapter, Mrs Ada Lander Saraso, and featured the commissioning of two fully detached modern classroom blocks, a playground, and other child-friendly facilities.
Two shuttle tricycles and a waiting shelter were also commissioned to ease the movement of pupils within the cantonment.
In addition to the school project, NAOWA provided humanitarian support to 120 widows of fallen heroes and conducted a medical outreach that reached over 300 beneficiaries, including wounded soldiers and pregnant women.
Mrs Oluyede reaffirmed NAOWA’s commitment to service, unity, and family welfare, and expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff for his continued support.
In her remarks, Mrs Saraso described the occasion as a milestone in the Association’s commitment to enhancing the lives of military families. She thanked the NAOWA President for her leadership and expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff and the General Officer Commanding 1 Division for their unwavering support in realising the projects.
