NDLEA Seizes 181.3kg Of Hard Drugs in Sokoto

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says its operatives have intercepted 181.3Kg of hard drugs in Sokoto State.

Sokoto State NDLEA Commander, Iro Adamu Muhammad, who stated this while addressing journalists in his office in Sokoto, said the drugs were concealed in Jerricans.

According to Iro Adamu Muhammad, the drug suspect, Babangida Aliyu, was arrested along Sokoto-Bodinga roads heading to the Illela border in Illela local government area of the state.

“In the course of the operation of stop and search, our operatives discovered this large amount of hard drugs concealed in Jerricans.

“These dealers are always trying to outsmart security, but we would never allow such illegal acts to continue in this state,” he said.

He said Sokoto State is faced with many security challenges which were fuel and caused by the activities of drugs.

“Drugs is oiling the issue of kidnapping, armed banditry, and cattle rustling, among others.

“Dealers of the drugs are the ones assisting these criminals, and we will not allow whoever is in the illegal business to breathe freely; we must ensure that we arrest them for our safety and security.

“NDLEA in Sokoto and beyond is ever ready for those dealers, as they are not ready to rest, we are not ready to stop our responsibility; we must arrest them,” he added.

Adamu Muhammad further noted that the agency would continue to remain determined and do away with all forms of drug activities in the state.

He said they would continue to work by the mandate of their Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (rtd), to intensify efforts to rid society of any form of illegal drugs and arrest dealers across the country.

The NDLEA Commander further urged members of the communities to continue to provide security, particularly NDLEA with intelligence reports that complement efforts towards maintaining a drug-free society in the country.
