The Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Limited has announced the forthcoming “Nigerian Satellite Week,” scheduled to take place from October 16 to 19, 2024.
In a statement, the Head of Corporate Affairs, Mrs. Aisha Bantam, stated that the week-long event aims to highlight the importance of satellite technology in driving innovation, connectivity, and economic growth in Nigeria and across Africa.
As the world continues to embrace digital transformation, satellite technology plays a crucial role in bridging the digital divide, enhancing communication, and fostering economic opportunities.
Mrs. Bantam further noted that the Nigerian Satellite Week will serve as a platform for stakeholders, industry leaders, and innovators to come together, share insights, and explore the future of satellite technology in various sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, and telecommunications.
The Nigerian Satellite Week 2024 will feature a series of engaging activities designed to foster collaboration and showcase advancements in the satellite industry.
The theme of the event is “Empowering Nigeria’s Digital Future: Innovations in Satellite Technology and Entrepreneurship.”
Activities to Mark the Week-long Event:
Press Day: The event will kick off with a Press Day, during which NIGCOMSAT will officially announce the event and provide insights into the significance of satellite technology in Nigeria.

Stakeholders Forum: This session will bring together industry leaders, government officials, and academic experts to discuss the current state and prospects of satellite technology in Nigeria. Participants will explore collaborative opportunities and share best practices to enhance the satellite ecosystem in the region.
NIGCOMSAT Accelerator Programme Demo: NIGCOMSAT will showcase the innovative solutions developed by 20 space and satellite-based startups enrolled in the NIGCOMSAT Accelerator Programme. This demo will highlight the creativity and potential of emerging entrepreneurs in the satellite industry, providing them with a platform to present their groundbreaking ideas to potential investors and partners.
Dinner and Awards Night: The week will conclude with a dinner and Awards Night, celebrating outstanding contributions to the satellite industry and honouring individuals and organizations that have made significant strides in advancing satellite technology across Nigeria.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NIGCOMSAT Ltd., Mrs. Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, expressed her enthusiasm for the event and its potential to advance Nigeria’s position in the global satellite market. She also extended an invitation to all stakeholders, industry professionals, and the general public to participate in the Nigerian Satellite Week.
