Nigeria, Russia Partnership to Enhance Socioeconomic Relations
The Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology has announced that Nigeria’s collaboration with the Republic of Russia will enhance socioeconomic ties between the two nations.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Mrs Esuabana Nko-Asanye, said this during the formal visit of the officials from the Embassy of the Russian Federation, led by the Senior Counsellor on Trade and Economic Section, Sergei Pliushchov, in Abuja on Wednesday.
According to her, the bilateral relationship between the two countries in the areas of space technology, agriculture, science engineering, and mathematics (STEM) needed to be strengthened.
Additionally, science is global, hence the need for nations to collaborate to strengthen bilateral relationships among them.
She said that her ministry was interested in participating in Russian scientific and other research-related field training, especially in the area of space technology in Russia.
She commended the Russian government for extending the training request to the ministry, noting that Russia has an interest in the development of Nigeria.
Pliushchov, the senior counsellor on the trade and economic section of the Embassy of the Russian Federation, noted that the collaboration with Nigeria would also facilitate the training and re-training of scientific experts for improved productivity in the country.
He added that Russia, through her embassy in Nigeria, engaged Russian online experts for the technical development of skills for Nigerians in various fields.
