Nigerian Army Awards Five Soldiers in Nasarawa State

The 4 Special Forces command of the Nigerian Army has awarded five personnel of the command for their outstanding qualities in their respective fields.

 

The Commander, Major General Hillary Nzan said the award of excellence was to encourage them and the other personnel of the command to make further efforts in rendering more selfless services to the people of the state.

Speaking at the West African Social Activities (WASA), at the 4 Special Forces command, Doma local government area of Nasarawa state, Major Hillary Nzan said WASA is one of the long-aged traditions that showcase the diverse ethnic and rich cultural composition of the Nigerian Army.

 

The event is celebrated annually where service personnel, their families, and guests come together and socialise to mark the culmination of regimental activities for the year.

 

“The colonial authority introduced what is refers as WASA which is celebrated annually to grant the request by soldiers to participate in their local cultural rituals, this cultural rituals were in the forms of festivals where sacrifices were made for the next bomber harvest”, Nzan noted.

 

He however appreciates the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taureeq Lagbaja, for upholding one of the pillars of the command philosophy which is on sound administration of the truth for a highly motivation force.

 

Speaking, as the special guest, the Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, said the 2024 WASA celebrations are a Nigerian Army social activity, which are but veritable platforms that bring together all the families of soldiers to continue to foster esprit de corp among the troops.

 

“It’s expected that this event will strengthen the bond of togetherness and will serve as a panacea for purposeful leadership, unity, peace, and security of your regiment in particular and the country in general”.

 

“I must commend your operational efforts in the country some of which have led to our gallant men paying the supreme price in service to the nation, may the souls of those who lost their lives rest in perfect peace Amen”.

 

Once again, I wish to applaud your doggedness and resilience and urge you to sustain the tempo for peaceful and harmonious coexistence among the diverse nationalities here in Nasarawa State and the country at large,” he noted.

 

Governor Sule further urged the soldiers to find a lasting solution to the security challenges we are facing, as the Nigerian Army is the nation’s hope.

Voice of Nigeria reports that WASA features cultural dances by various ethnic groups, showcasing different cultural food for diverse cultural heritage.
