The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, in north-central Nigeria, Adekimi Ojo, has presented cheques totalling ₦22,140,403.14 to twenty (20) families of police officers who lost their lives in active service.
The financial support, drawn from the Group Life Assurance and the IGP Family Welfare Schemes, represents the continued effort of the Nigeria Police Force to honour the sacrifices of officers who paid the ultimate price while protecting lives and property.
While presenting the cheques at the police headquarters in Ilorin, the state capital, CP Adekimi Ojo commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for his unwavering commitment to the welfare and well-being of police personnel and their dependents.

He noted that this initiative reflects the humane leadership style of the IGP and his passion for ensuring that the families of fallen heroes are not forgotten.
The Commissioner of Police further encouraged the beneficiaries to put the funds into meaningful and sustainable ventures that will provide long-term benefits for their families.
He reiterated that the gesture is a testament to the Force leadership’s empathy, compassion, and appreciation of the sacrifices made by officers in the line of duty.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Suleiman Abdulkarim, son of one of the deceased officers, expressed deep gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police for the financial relief and emotional support extended to them.
