Sokoto State Governor Receives 66 Abductees Rescued by Nigerian Army

The Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu has received sixty-six (66) victims of kidnap rescued by the troops of the Joint Task Force North West ‘Operation Hadarin Daji’ (OPHD) of the Nigerian Army.
Receiving the victims, Governor Ahmed Aliyu commended the troops of the Nigerian Army and other security operatives for their efforts towards ensuring peace in Sokoto State.

“Today, we witnessed another significant milestone, as our security operatives succeeded in rescuing 66 victims who were kidnapped from various villages and communities in Isah local government area of the state.

By the information gathered, the feat was recorded on Thursday, 22 December, 2023 when 52 were rescued while 14 victims were rescued on Saturday, which made them 66,” the governor disclosed.

“This is indeed a commendable effort by our security operatives, especially the troops of the Joint Task Force North West Operation Hadarin Daji, which are always there day and night to ensure the state is free from banditry, kidnapping, and all other forms of criminality.
As you are aware, security is one of this administration’s 9-point smart agenda.

That is why we are conducting regular security meetings, and we will continue to give their operatives all the necessary requirements that will enable them to discharge their constitutional roles effectively,” Governor Aliyu noted.

 

The State Government’s Support 

The governor further added that his government recently donated eighty (80) vehicles to all security agencies to enhance their operations across the state.

“These are part of measures taken by the state government and also part of our silent efforts to end banditry, kidnapping, and cattle rustling across the state, he added.
Governor Aliyu urged the people of the state to always provide useful information to security agencies for the state’s overall security.
He donated a hundred thousand naira (N100,000) cash to the sixty-six (66) victims, as well as bags of rice, maize, and grains.
Earlier, while presenting the rescued victims to the governor, the Garrison Commander 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Alex Tawasimi, said the feat was in continuation of the onslaught against terrorists.
“The combined troops of the Joint Task Force North-West Operation HADARIN DAJI (OPHD) have again rescued 52 kidnap victims in a successful and well coordinated operation in Isa local government area of Sokoto State.
“The feat was recorded on 22 December 2023, when the troops cleared and destroyed terrorist enclaves at Saruwa, Kubuta, Gundumi villages, and the Bunwanga Gundumi Forest in Isa local government area of Sokoto State.
During the operation, the troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI rescued 52 kidnap victims while several terrorists were neutralized.
The rescued victims include 14 males, 32 females, and 6 children who have undergone medical check-up, debrief, and have now been handed over to the state government to reunite them with their families,” he expatiated.

The garrison commander applauded the governor for his support towards the success of their operations.

He assured that the Nigerian Army will continue to do all it can to ensure peace in Sokoto State and its environs.
