A professional chronology, ‘Footprints in Broadcasting, has been unveiled in honour of Aremo Taiwo Alimi, a renowned former Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria, authored by Dr. Qazim Akinreti, Deputy Director of the Voice of Nigeria.
The book celebrates Alimi’s illustrious life and career as he marks a significant milestone, his 80th birthday.
The minister of information who was represented by Alhaji Ahmad Yawa commended Alimi for his immense contribution to journalism, describing him as a distinct personality who deserves to be celebrated.
The Director General of Voice of Nigeria, Jubril Baba Ndache, applauded Alimi’s unwavering passion for broadcasting, citing his enduring love for the Voice of Nigeria as an organisation and his commitment to integrity and excellence while he was there as the DG.
Represented by Dr Tajudeen Adebayo, Ndache praised Alimi citing his remarkable passion for broadcasting in Nigeria continues to be a source of inspiration.
Adebayo relayed the message from VON DG thus; “He was struck by his professional enthusiasm years after leaving Vservedich serve as his enduring love for the organisation.
His dedication to the vision and mission of VON is evident as a shining shining example of commitment and excellence in broadcasting. The passion he has for media industry in Nigeria and in Africa as a whole. Which continue to inspire media professionals in the continent,” he said.
The author of the book, a Deputy Director at VON, Dr. Qazim Akinreti describes Aremo Alimi as a man who rewards hard work, underscoring his unwavering dedication to excellence in broadcasting.
He said autobiography promises to offer a unique glimpse into Alimi’s life, experiences, and contributions to the broadcasting industry.
The 80th birthday celebration was attended by several dignitaries, including representatives from the Lagos State House of Assembly, the Ministry of Information, media professionals and personalities from the academia.

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, represented by the General Manager of Radio Lagos, commended Alimi for his mentorship and guidance during his early days as a broadcaster.
Also, a scholar of communication and media studies, Dr. Tunde Akanni commended the author of the book for coming up with the memoire while the celebrant was still alive.
He explained that the gesture was scarce in the journalism industry until last year when media professionals and stakeholders collectivised to write a book on Dapo Olorunyomi, a foremost media professional as he clocked sixty.
He said the move paved the way for subsequent celebration of outstanding performance of journalist in Nigeria.
Kayode Akinyemi, General Manager of News Central, commended Alimi’s tenacity and passion for the job, sharing personal anecdotes of Alimi’s guidance and mentorship.
He went on his knees to appreciate the man whom he referred to as a rare gem for his mentorship and guidance for the improvement of the Broadcasting industry.

His representative conveyed his warm wishes, celebrating Alimi’s remarkable legacy in mentoring numerous professionals in the industry.
Professor Saheed Timileyin of Lagos State University reviewed the book, describing Alimi as a titan in the industry.
Timileyin urged readers to view the book beyond academic material, noting its value for students of mass communication and media professionals.
