In the spirit of the yuletide season, a non-governmental organization, the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation (SEOF), has made a donation to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) for distribution to their widowed members.

Assistant Inspector-General Chris Ezike (retd.) and Chief of Staff to Sir Emeka Offor, on behalf of the foundation, presented ten (10) grinding machines, ten (10) sewing machines, and ten (10) Equator standing hair dryers to the chairperson of POWA, FCT Chapter, Hajiya Salamatu Garba Haruna.

Ezike said the donation was part of the foundation’s social corporate responsibility as well as a response to POWA’s letter to the foundation, requesting support to empower its members.

“Sir Emeka Offor Foundation is an NGO that operates nationally and internationally.

What we do is on a tripod. We are engaged in educational development, health and human services, and empowerment. What we are doing today falls under our third leg, which is empowerment.

POWA wrote us a letter, asking for support to be able to meet the needs of its members within the FCT.

We are aware of the excruciating conditions under which the police and their families operate.

We are also aware that if you empower the women of the house, you have invariably empowered the man,” he remarked.

More About the Foundation

The Sir Emeka Offor Foundation, a non-governmental philanthropic organization, was established in 2006 in Nigeria.

The foundation seeks to alleviate the suffering of the less privileged in the society through philanthropy. It focuses primarily on giving support and hope to those in need.

Acknowledging the Challenges

Assistant Inspector-General Chris Ezike (retd.) acknowledged the challenges of law enforcement and security agents.

“So, we get interested in mitigating the challenges they face, knowing that their husbands died defending the country.

So, we decided, as a foundation, to assist with 10 grinding machines, 10 sewing machines and 10 hair dryers. We hope this modest donation will put a smile on the faces of your members,”  Ezike said.

Responding, chairperson of the POWA, FCT Command, Hajiya Salamatu Garba Haruna, thanked the foundation for the philanthropic gesture. She promised to distribute the machines to widows and the less-privileged people within the Nigerian Police Force to support their families.

“On behalf of my members, the widows, and the less-privileged people within the FCT Command, we are so happy and grateful to Sir Emeka Offor Foundation.

I wrote a letter to Emeka Offor Foundation to assist us to empower our women, and today we are with plenty of gifts from them.

I know they would be very happy, and God will bless Sir Emeka Offor and his entire family for us. We will distribute it to the women to use to make small money to support the family,” she said.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, G.G. Haruna, commended the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation for its continuous support to the less privileged in the society and prayed to God to replenish his pocket.

“This is not the first time he is doing this. He has done it several times. May Almighty God replenish his pocket. This is the only prayer we have for him: to be strong and continue in the spirit.

The end-users of these gifts will be happy anytime they are using it.

And as they are happy, God too will be happy with him.

Convey our message to him that we are very grateful,” said the FCT commissioner of police.
