The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has inaugurated newly appointed members of its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), reinforcing its commitment to institutional integrity, accountability, and ethical governance.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NiMet, Charles Anosike, described the inauguration as a significant milestone in strengthening internal mechanisms to combat corruption.

He noted that the move aligns with the Agency’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, which is built on the core values of Integrity, Professionalism, Accountability, Commitment, and Excellence (I-PACE).

Anosike explained that ACTU plays a critical role as an internal safeguard, tasked with preventing corrupt practices and promoting a culture of transparency within the Agency.

He stated that the unit has been expanded from five to eight members to improve inclusiveness and operational effectiveness.

NiMET DG stated that the fight against corruption requires collective responsibility, urging staff members to embed ethical conduct into their daily operations.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Musa Adamu Aliyu, represented by Mr. Olusegun Adigun, commended NiMet’s management for supporting the establishment and functioning of ACTU.

He also called for stronger collaboration between both institutions to further enhance transparency and public trust.

The NiMet DG concluded the event by charging the newly inducted ACTU members to uphold the highest ethical standards and discharge their duties with diligence, integrity, and professionalism.

He assured them of the Agency’s full support, while reaffirming NiMet’s commitment to transparency and national development.
