The Akwa Ibom State Government has presented keys of 25 newly completed two-bedroom bungalows to public servants, reinforcing subnational contributions to easing Nigeria’s housing deficit.

This is in furtherance of Nigeria’s drive toward affordable housing and workers’ welfare in Akwa Ibom State, advancing practical delivery in alignment with national priorities under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The ceremony was held at the Office of the State Head of Civil Service, Mrs Elsie Peters, who also chairs the National Housing Fund in the state.

Setting the tone, Permanent Secretary Ms Doris Ikpuho said, “The 25 units of 2-Bedroom Bungalows are situated at the Public Servants’ Estate, Ikpedip, with the developer being the Akwa Ibom Property and Investment Company (APICO).”

Expressing thanks to the Head of Civil Service for working to facilitate the actualisation of the government’s good intentions to officially present keys to the beneficiaries, she stated:

“The construction of the estate, which was handled by MacDudu Resources Limited, was achievable through the drive put in place by the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno.”

Speaking on behalf of beneficiaries, Lionel Udoka said, “We are very excited to receive the keys to our new houses; we thank our dear Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, Ph.D., for this good gesture, and we also appreciate the Head of Civil Service, Mrs Elsie Peters, for facilitating the presentation of the keys to all of us today.”

In her remarks, Peters emphasised policy continuity, stating that the allocation of the estate in Ibiono Ibom forms part of welfare packages under the ARISE Agenda to address accommodation challenges.

Charging beneficiaries, she said, “As you receive the keys to your houses today, you have to reciprocate Governor Umo Eno’s compassion and generosity through your support and loyalty to his administration.”

She further noted, “This gesture shows His Excellency’s magnanimity and deep concern to ameliorate the housing and accommodation needs of public servants in the state.”

The initiative complements 150 housing units delivered to junior workers, reinforcing a scalable model of housing provision tied to national development goals.

Stakeholders say sustained collaboration between federal vision and state execution remains vital to expanding access to decent, affordable homes nationwide.
