Army NASPRI Begins 2026 Courses on Crisis Information Management

The Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information (NASPRI) has inaugurated its Second Quarter Courses for 2026, with the Army leadership emphasising enhanced capacity in digital warfare communication and crisis information management.

The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Apollonia Anele, who served as Special Guest of Honour at the ceremony held at the Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja Auditorium, Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment, Giri, Abuja, commended NASPRI for sustained institutional growth and professional development since its establishment in 2010.

She stated that the newly inaugurated courses are structured to address emerging challenges in contemporary security environments, particularly the growing influence of digital and social media platforms on military operations and public perception.

According to her, the evolving information space has shifted control of public discourse beyond traditional gatekeepers, making accurate, timely and strategic communication critical to ongoing counterterrorism and national security efforts.

Colonel Anele urged participants, especially those on the Advanced Public Relations Course, to approach their training with discipline and professionalism, noting that their role in shaping public understanding of military operations remains a key component of operational effectiveness.

In his welcome remarks, the Acting Commandant of NASPRI, Lieutenant Colonel Shuaib Umar, called on students to uphold high standards of conduct throughout the training period, stressing that the institution maintains zero tolerance for indiscipline.

He acknowledged the support and guidance of the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, and commended instructors for their role in delivering training designed to prepare personnel for operational and professional responsibilities.

Earlier, the Acting Chief Instructor, Major Nureni Alimi, outlined the structure of the courses, stating that the curriculum combines theoretical instruction with practical application to strengthen both conceptual knowledge and field readiness.

He added that the institution remains committed to continuous curriculum updates to align training with evolving operational demands.

Participants were also reminded to adhere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures and uphold the core values of the Nigerian Army throughout the course duration.

The inauguration ceremony featured formal activities, including the official launch of the courses, the presentation of souvenirs, a symbolic tree-planting exercise and group photographs.
