Gombe Announces April 27 As Date for LG Polls

The Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission has announced April 27, 2024, as the date approved by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for the conduct of Local Government Council Polls.

 

Announcing the date to the various political parties in Gombe, the Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Saidu Shehu Awak, said the commission had given interested political parties the mandatory 101 days’ notice for them to prepare for the Polls.

 

Mr. Awak therefore, called on the parties to ensure that they conduct the electoral activities within the stipulated time frame.

 

Peacefully and Lawfully

He also said parties should ensure that their supporters and members conduct their activities peacefully and lawfully.

 

“We wish to call on all political parties to ensure that they conduct their primaries within the time frame that will be given to them. We also wish to call on the leadership of all political parties that intend to contest in this election to impress on their members and supporters to be law abiding and respectful in their conduct of relationship with fellow players of politics,” Mr. Awak said.

 

The election is expected to be conducted across all eleven local government councils of Gombe State.
