A House of Representatives aspirant for Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency in Taraba State, TLP Muktar Usman Galadima, has expressed optimism about the future of the Nwonyo Fishing Festival, describing it as a key cultural asset with strong tourism potential.

Galadima made this known during an interaction with journalists in Wukari, where he said the festival is gaining prominence and could attract wider recognition in the coming years.

He noted that the Nwonyo Fishing Festival has a rich history and remains a significant cultural event for the people of the area.

According to him, Nwonyo Lake, one of the longest lakes in the region, provides a serene environment capable of supporting tourism development.

Galadima also expressed satisfaction with the organisation of this year’s edition, commending stakeholders for their efforts in ensuring its success.

“The festival continues to grow and holds strong potential to become a major tourism attraction,” he stated.

On the occasion of Jukun Youth Day, Galadima urged young people to take proactive steps in organising similar cultural events annually to promote heritage and cultural preservation.

“Such initiatives will help showcase our culture to a broader audience and preserve our identity,” he encouraged.
