The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has flagged off the construction of a new National Control Room at the National Control Centre in Osogbo.
This marks a significant step toward strengthening Nigeria’s power grid management system.
The project officially commenced following the handover of the site to Messrs FBS Construction Engineering Services Limited.
Speaking during the ceremony, NISO’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Abdu Bello Mohammed, urged the contractors to uphold high standards of professionalism, safety, and quality throughout the construction process.
He tasked the management of the National Control Centre with ensuring effective supervision and coordination to guarantee timely delivery.
Also addressing stakeholders, Executive Director of System Operations, Nafisatu Asabe Ali, described the control centre as a critical national asset essential for both security and economic growth.
She emphasised that the project reflects NISO’s commitment to enhancing grid stability and reliability across the country.
In the same vein, Executive Director of Finance and Corporate Services, Babajide Ibironke, called on the contractor to approach the assignment with a strong sense of national duty, noting that the initiative is key to improving electricity stability natnationwide.
The new facility is expected to boost operational efficiency and strengthen Nigeria’s electricity transmission system once completed.
