A former Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa has expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following his exit from the Federal Executive Council.
He described his tenure as both a privilege and a call to national service.
Reacting to a recent cabinet reshuffle approved by the President, Dangiwa said he was deeply honoured to have been entrusted with leading reforms in one of Africa’s most critical sectors housing and urban development at a time when global demand for affordable housing continues to rise.
He said; “I wish to sincerely thank Mr. President for the confidence he reposed in me to serve as the Minister of Housing and Urban Development. It has been a rare privilege to contribute to the advancement of policies and programmes aimed at expanding access to affordable housing for Nigerians.”
During his tenure, Dangiwa highlighted what he described as significant progress under the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” positioning Nigeria’s housing sector as a driver of economic growth, job creation, and social inclusion, an approach increasingly mirrored in emerging economies worldwide.
Key achievements included; the rollout of the Renewed Hope Housing Programme, expanded public-private partnerships to boost housing delivery, and reforms in land administration and housing finance aimed at improving accessibility and sustainability in the sector.
“I am grateful to my colleagues in the Federal Executive Council, stakeholders across the housing value chain, and the dedicated staff of the Ministry and its agencies for their commitment and hard work. Together, we laid strong foundations for a more structured and sustainable housing delivery system in Nigeria,” he stated.
Dangiwa also acknowledged the President’s directive for a cabinet transition, assuring a smooth and orderly handover process.
He expressed confidence in the incoming leadership to build on existing reforms and accelerate progress, at a time when housing shortages remain a pressing challenge not only in Nigeria but across rapidly urbanising regions globally.
Reaffirming his commitment to national development, the former minister pledged continued support for initiatives that advance housing, infrastructure, and economic growth, underscoring the enduring importance of sustainable urban development in shaping resilient economies.
