President John Mahama of Ghana has arrived in Brazzaville to attend the swearing-in ceremony of President Denis Sassou Nguesso, who has secured another five-year term in office.

The investiture follows President Nguesso’s victory in the March 15 election, where he garnered 94.82 per cent of the votes, extending his long-standing leadership of the Central African nation.

President Mahama’s trip comes shortly after he launched Ghana’s Free Primary Healthcare Programme in Dodowa, located in the Greater Accra Region.

Reports indicate that the Ghanaian leader is expected to participate in Thursday’s ceremony and return to Accra later the same day.

The visit underscores Ghana’s ongoing diplomatic engagement on the African continent and its commitment to strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation.

President Nguesso, one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders, has ruled the Republic of the Congo for nearly 42 years at different times, with his latest electoral victory further consolidating his position.
